HOT Summit 2019
The 2019 HOT Summit was one of the most successful yet with 211 attendees. The Summit Working Group implemented an Inclusivity Strategy and saw the benefits with 55% of our talks led or co-led by women and 63% led by someone from a self-identified underrepresented group. The Summit, in collaboration with the Global State of the Map and OpenStreetMap Foundation, was able to support the attendance of 23 attendees with scholarships for both conferences, enabling the voices of those creating and using OpenStreetMap data for humanitarian purposes to be heard.
“I’m so excited to be here… There is a massive power within OpenStreetMap to be able to contribute to the big transformations we are trying to work out in the humanitarian sector – how can we make aid more efficient and how can we anticipate disasters.” - Catalina Jaime, Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre
